Japanese Music Video of the Week - by kichi (El Penguino -clap clap)

Greetings and salutations everyone another installment of the Japanese Music Video of the Week has arrived…
I’m still trying to figure out other ways of cramming Japanese culture down your throats so don’t be afraid to throw suggestions into the comment box. This week has been a bit hectic so forgive the lateness of this video. Please welcome the only band that is great because they are so completely bland: Asian Kung-fu Generation. The songs don’t usually feature any solos or any features that would distinguish any member except the lead singer Goto. Goto is unique from all the other Japanese rock singers because of one thing: he is the source of all melancholy in the world. “But Kichi,” you might protest “what about such great songs as ‘Rewrite’ and ‘Haruka Kanata’ ?” My answer? Exceptions to every rule exist. But for the most part, Goto sings with all the emotion of a potato. Given, a potato with the ability to speak Japanese, but a potato nonetheless. Still, it is that same property that makes Ajikan (short for the full band name) so wonderful. If you’re in a sighing, relaxing mood, it’s great to just listen to some of their music. It’s the kind of song that’s playing in the background as you stand on a windy cliff with an overcast sky stretching beyond all view. Not quite like chill, which still makes you bob your head in tune with the beat, Ajikan’s music carries you by itself and lets you ride the wind of Goto’s almost monotonous voice. So loyal readers, without further ado: Juuni Shinho no Yukei

As I just finished reading Memoirs of a Geisha, I am at present, quite interested in Japanese culture. No jamming necessary.
RYC: Alas, no on both counts…
