I’ve really been putting off talking about Smallville for awhile. I keep getting it in my head that I’m going to do a vlog about it, but alas my social calendar has not allowed for such things. So onward!

Let’s start with Survivor Fans vs. Favorites. Is anyone watching this?

Survivor generally has been a real treat to watch year after year. The strategy, personal manipulation, and the anger people have at being backstabbed in a game that is ABOUT backstabbing.

Now this year they decided to have two teams one made up of “fans” of Survivor and then the “favorites” (who decided they were favorites I’ll never know) from the past 5 seasons.

The games began with their usual vigor and the fans were being pummeled. The favorites were obviously putting their previous knowledge to good use and quickly began to destroy the fans, while the fans were quickly eating their own, making mistakes, that if you WATCHED survivor you would not be making. (Like just backstabbing each other on the first or second night, establishing yourself as “leader” - re: target).

In this season (the finale which is on this Sunday), there have been two evacuations due to injury (Jonathan got a stabbed knee that was infected, and James had an infected finger, both were bad enough that they might have lost their appendages if they didn’t leave the island), one person left because as she sat in the ocean after like day 18 she “couldn’t feel her children” , later crazy lady!

Two guys WANTED to be voted off, Johnny Fairplay (the first one off from the Favorites and really I think it was a publicity stunt that he was on the show anyway), and Chet, the resident gay guy who couldn’t be bothered with doing ANYTHING.

There have been about 3 blindsides and then last night the most ridiculous tribal council ever. Erik, the only guy left out of 5 people won the immunity challenge (he’s won the past 3). He then gave up his immunity to one of the girls. Why? Because the girls convinced him it was the best thing to do. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!!? lol He had a guarantee to be in the top 4 of Survivor, one away for a chance to have a million dollars, and this ice cream scooper gave it up because the girls played him like a freakin retarded violin.

hilarious

Now onto Smallville. I’m about 2 episodes behind, but Smallville is one of those frustrating shows that can be both bad and good at the same time. They’ve moved past the Kryptonite monster of the week (years 1-4) and actually have spent a fairly good amount of time to try and flesh out the past and mystery surrounding Clark Kent and the world he came from. Along with that they’ve shown Lex Luthor’s descent into madness really well.

This last episode “apocalypse” Clark wonders what it’d be like if he didn’t exist on earth, and wiz bang, Jor El acting as Clarence makes it so. Clark is thrust into a world where Jimmy Olsen wears a bowtie, Lois dresses clark up with glasses and a suit with a press pass to boot in order to get to President Lex Luthor before he starts World War 3.

Now comes news that Michael Rosenbaum (lex luthor) is not coming back to the show as a regular, Lana Lang is out too, and NOW maybe Chloe Sullivan (played by Allison Mack).

Who cares? Honestly I could care left if they flew the coop. I heard some people complaining that it’d be “Lois and Clark” all over again…AND??!

That’s the crux of the whole story really and they’ve been pussyfooting around all sorts of storylines, when I’m desperate to see Tom Welling don some tights, or at the very least start working at the paper and flirt with Lois Lane.

Enough with all the weird mumbo jumbo, angsty woe is me’ing. Let’s move this ship forward a couple of feet!

I think with no one of the original cast (aside from superboy himself) returning it’d be an awesome way of starting a platform for new viewers to come on board and to make the show the greatest incarnation of the Superman story.

I’m just sayin.

Ahhhh…. Finally a post I can get excited about commenting on!
I missed so freakin much of my show during my classes, but I’ve mostly caught up. I just can’t believe that Eric fell for the whole, “Give me your immunity and I’ll believe you” trick. That was so stupid!

I hadn’t heard about the cuts on Smallville either! I don’t know if I like that, but I’ve pretty much gotten tired of rooting for Lana. They need to keep Chloe for a while I think. I just want old Supe to start flying!!! He needs to stop running everywhere!

After all that, I can’t believe that Eric would make such a stupid mistake….then on the other hand, he was a bit of a yes-man….

As for Smallville….I haven’t watched in ages, but you tend to be a genius about these things, so I concur that perhaps these changes could end up really benefitting the show…plus, I LOVED Lois and Clark in my younger years!!

Never happen with Smallville. The suits won’t let it and Welling doesn’t want to be Clark forever. Because he’s an actor and therefor and idiot.

I wish I could comment on this. But upon seeing what it was about (Smallville) I began reading it aloud to Hubby. Immediately he forbid (forbade? forbode?) me from continuing b/c we haven’t seen that episode yet. He’s SOOOO bossy.
