Stargate chick in all her wisdom went and stood in line from 6pm til midnight to assure us the greatest seats in all of the theater for the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.
Mystery Lady and I arrived just as they were taking tickets and we skipped to the front of the line and entered the theater taking up the middle of the middle spots Muahahaha - thank you StargateChick!
Now the movie.
Well, the first question is “Do you like the Harry Potter movies?”. If so, you might just be looking at the Empire Strikes back of the series. It’s dark and moody, far better acted than in any of the previous tellings. The story moves along at a thought out and rapid pace that by the end of the film you are sort of hoping that it goes on (which is always a good thing I think. This is the shortest of the Potter films I believe).
It did take me a bit to catch up to speed. I hadn’t read the book in years and seen the last movie since it came out, so there is this constant juxtaposition of what I think I’ve seen and the order of which this movie is placed. But we quickly catch up to speed and are thrust into Hogwarts, Muggles, and the world of Magic and the impending war between Lord Voldemort and Harry.
Stargate Chick immediately exclaimed this was her favorite of the series, and the more I think about it, she may be right. It’s amazing to me to see a film franchise get better with each movie (rather than the norm of getting worse).\
SIDENOTE:
It’s me reading into things a bit, but I found the entire movie to be politically allegorical. The people that close their eyes to a gathering threat of extremists, and those that recognize the threat and are willing to sacrifice and do something about it. Try and stop it before it explodes on the rest of civilization. Watch the movie with those eyes. It might surprise you.
Plus it makes me want to read all the books again. *sigh* I gotta get on that since the final one is out next week!
Of course I forgot to set my alarm and almost was late for work (something I don’t think I’ve ever been), but thank the Lord that I heard the rumble of my cell phone at 8:15 (work at 9).
Yes, I will try to have the interview vlog up today.

I am so jealous, I am dying to see this!! Too bad the final stages of pregnancy prevent me from sitting longer than 30 minutes at a time. At least I have book 7 to look forward to.
Yeah but you are going to have a BABY!!! That’s so much cooler than Harry Potter I think. And besides it’ll be on DVD mucho rapido!
I like the books so much that it irritates me when all of the side plots are wiped from the movie. Of course I understand why it must be done. Who would want to sit through a 9 hour movie? But still, I hate it when fleshed out characters become stick figures, you know?
I’m always disappointed when big sub-plots or major characters don’t make it from a book to the screen, like how Eponine (my favorite character) was cut completely out of the movie version of Les Mis. But, the parts that they do put in the Harry Potter series are done really well, and I can’t wait to see the newest one this weekend!

Oh, how I love this movie. I am a JK Rowling, book die-hard, and some stuff did annoy me a bit (see Death scence. I actually said aloud, “that’s bulls**t”) But no other movie to date has stayed truer to the books, excpet maybe the 1st movie. And the performances were astounding! Umbridge, Luna, the Trio. Not to mention the loveliness of the actual Direction. David Yates=’s genious. Although I will never again, except for next Saturday when the 7th book comes out :), stand in line for that long. I woke up sick the next day. Boo.
Love to the Kcks for soming, and bearing my geekiness. Especially since I’ve beared his for so long
