Thankful for movies

I ate alot. Alot alot.

That and ingested a large amount of Red Bull which would account for some of the strange mental goings ons in my cranium.

Mama Schwarzenegger and PFox came down to MaRules’ house and we all had a lovely time.

Oh, and I saw a few movies.

Marie Antoinette - Sofia Coppola is showing herself to be a one trick pony in my eyes. I liked Lost in Translation, but this…this was just a king of boring slice of life piece. It was interesting to see the upper crust french dally in their upper crust ways, but only in that “Slacker?” way. The film was spectacularily shot, but it’s boring. At least in my eyes.

Thank you for Smoking - great piece with no real point. You just follow someone who is a good talker/lobbyist argue his point of view to whoever is listening. Wonderfully acted and the script…was okay, although effective in making both sides of the argument look ridiculous.
This movie was done better in “Butt Out” episode of South Park.

Illusionist - Dug it. Just interesting to see what magic, and illisionists were back in the days before TV. Not that this was an accurate depiction. But the fact that they would have a theater and talk about different aspects of the universe and then trick you into seeing something. There were some really cool things, but unfortunately the ending was too easy to guess (though I liked the flick).
Jessica Biel (my crush of the month), ed Norton, and of course Paul Giamatti did great jobs in their various parts.

And that is all.

Deja vu - Denzel Washington is always good to watch. Tony Scott usually never falters (we won’t mention Domino), so it’s suprising that they would do this flick. It’s destined to fall on it’s face, though I actually thought it was a pretty good movie. There is a sci fi component to this movie that is pretty hard to believe, and you must buy into it for the film to work. I don’t think they made it work, but I’m a sci fi junkie so I’ll gloss over alot of holes just so I can watch some more.

We saw Happy Feet. It has a great soundtrack, and the animation is truly superb. However, def. not a kids movie.
Also, very movie with a message.
But if you take it as a dancing penguin movie, then it’s great and much more enjoyable.

One cup of pity, as you requested….with a cherry on top to make it sweeter. Sorry you don’t feel well.

The first half of Happy Feet made my feet truly happy. The second half was, as sabra said, kind of like, “Hmmmm….I wonder what the writers think of fishing in the antarctic? I wonder how the writers feel about putting animals in zoos?” It got old pretty fast.

Me too! A 4-hour one and counting. I’m getting no pity around here either, though I think I should since I’m pregnant and can’t take real drugs. I’ll pat your back if you pat mine…

Okay, so I created an account just so I could post this comment. ;-)
If you likes the Illusionist, you will love The Prestige! Also, if you haven’t already, check out Casino Royale. I think you will like it, especially the first 10 minutes or so.

Duh! I’m sorry!! I’m Amanda, Josh’s sister-in-law. Or you would probably know me better as Morgan’s mom. :-)
